FOCUS AREA
Thyroid
When your thyroid isn't working the way it should, the symptoms can show up in ways that are easy to overlook.
Fatigue, changes in weight, brain fog, constipation, digestive changes, feeling unusually cold or warm, changes in your hair or skin, and changes in energy can all be associated with thyroid conditions — but they can also have many other explanations.
At Carolina Functional Nutrition, we look at the bigger picture. Your symptoms, health history, nutrition, lifestyle, medications, and relevant testing can all provide important context when you're trying to understand what may be contributing to how you feel.
THE BASICS
Understanding Your Thyroid
- Your thyroid helps regulate many important processes throughout the body, including metabolism, energy, temperature regulation, and more.
- Thyroid conditions can take different forms. At Carolina Functional Nutrition, Rhya works with clients navigating conditions including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and Graves' disease.
- A diagnosis is an important piece of the picture, but it doesn't always answer every question about how you're feeling.
THE FULL PICTURE
Looking Beyond the Lab Result
- Thyroid health isn't just about looking at a single number on a lab report.
- When appropriate, we consider your symptoms, medical history, nutrition, lifestyle, medications, and relevant laboratory information together. This helps provide context for what you're experiencing and where nutrition support may fit alongside your medical care.
- Testing can be useful when there is a clear question to answer. More testing isn't automatically better, and functional testing isn't appropriate for everyone.
YOUR PLAN
Nutrition Support for Thyroid Health
- Nutrition can't replace thyroid medication or medical treatment when those are needed. But what you eat and how you care for yourself can still be an important part of your overall health.
- Depending on your individual situation, nutrition support may include looking at your overall diet, nutrient intake, digestive health, food-related symptoms, lifestyle, and other factors that may be relevant to your goals.
- There isn't one thyroid diet that works for everyone. Your plan should make sense for your body, your health history, and your life.

A Special Focus on Hashimoto's
- Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid, and it's an area Rhya has personal and professional experience with.
- If Hashimoto's is part of your health picture, Rhya's free Hashimoto's Nutrition Webinar is a great place to learn more about how nutrition can fit alongside your medical care.
You Don't Have to Figure It All Out on Your Own
If you've been experiencing thyroid-related symptoms or trying to make sense of a thyroid diagnosis, you don't have to know exactly what is causing everything before reaching out.
A free Jumpstart Call is a chance to talk through what you've been experiencing, share your health history and goals, and get a better sense of what may be worth exploring next.
Carolina Functional Nutrition provides nutrition support that complements, rather than replaces, medical care. Thyroid conditions require appropriate medical evaluation and management with your physician or other qualified medical professionals.
